PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

The Department of Biological Sciences is pleased to announce its 2008 Summer Research Program.(June 2 through August 7) This program is open to students from all universities and colleges.(See Qualifications).

Participants conduct independent research projects in faculty laboratories in the areas of microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, plant biology, neurobiology or invertebrate/vertebrate physiology. The program pairs each student with a faculty mentor who will supervise the student projects. Students are involved daily in their selected research. At the end of the summer students present the results of their research at both a department-wide poster session and symposium. In addition, students attend weekly journal clubs, a workshop on ethical issues in research and medicine, as well as sessions on career options and post-graduate education. The program provides informal social and recreational events.

Students will receive a stipend of $3500 for the 2008 summer program. Go to Application for information on application procedures and forms.
