A Career in Biotechnology

A career in the biotechnology sector will expose graduates of Marquette University to intellectual challenges and provide tremendous opportunities for growth. Some of the areas of biotechnology that encourage B.S Biology majors to apply might be but not limited to, large pharmaceutical, small biotech firms, experimental science service sector, drug development companies, genetic engineering of plants to mention just a few. Enrolling in undergraduate laboratory courses in the Department of Biological Sciences provide students hands-on experience using a variety of contemporary techniques. Whether conducting human genetic fingerprinting using PCR or recording currents from cloned ion channels expressed in Xenopus oocytes, you will be better prepared to acquire a job in laboratory forensics, or pharmaceutical research as well as many other biology related vocations.
