A career in the biotechnology
sector will expose graduates of Marquette University to intellectual
challenges and provide tremendous opportunities for growth. Some
of the areas of biotechnology that encourage B.S Biology majors
to apply might be but not limited to, large pharmaceutical, small
biotech firms, experimental science service sector, drug development
companies, genetic engineering of plants to mention just a few.
Enrolling in undergraduate laboratory courses in the Department
of Biological Sciences provide students hands-on experience using
a variety of contemporary techniques. Whether conducting human genetic
fingerprinting using PCR or recording currents from cloned ion channels
expressed in Xenopus oocytes, you will be better prepared to acquire
a job in laboratory forensics, or pharmaceutical research as well
as many other biology related vocations.
